Metal Sawing Machines: Band Saws and Circular Cold Saws
CNC Metal Cut supplies five families of metal saws for cutting bar, pipe, tube, billets and profiles to length. They range from double-column band saws for Ø300 mm stock to heavy-duty saws for Ø1600 mm billets, plus TCT circular cold saws that cut solid bar to ±0.1 mm.

Band saw or circular cold saw?
Band saw
- Cuts from Ø300 mm up to Ø1600 mm
- Thin blade (0.9–1.6 mm), low cost per cut
- Handles bundles, profiles and mixed work
- Lower purchase price
Circular cold saw
- Solid bar and tube from Ø10 to Ø300 mm
- ±0.1 mm length accuracy on most models
- Automatic loading from a 6 m rack
- Best when you cut thousands of pieces
Where sawing fits in a cutting shop
Sawing is the first step: stock is cut to length before machining, welding or bending. Flat plate goes to a CNC plasma table or, for very thick plate, to a machine with oxy-fuel torches. Tube that needs holes and shaped ends is better suited to a tube laser, which our sister site laser-solution.com covers.

Frequently asked questions
What size band saw do I need?
Pick a model whose capacity is larger than the biggest section you cut, with some margin for clamping. PCL band saw model numbers state the round capacity in millimetres, so a BS-500 cuts round bar up to Ø500 mm and rectangles up to 500 × 500 mm.
Should I choose a band saw or a circular cold saw?
Choose a band saw for large or mixed sections, bundles and tight budgets. Choose a circular cold saw for high volumes of solid bar or thick-wall tube up to Ø300 mm, where its ±0.1 mm accuracy and fast cycle pay back the higher price.
Can these saws cut stainless steel and aluminum?
Yes. Band saws cut carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper when the blade and speed suit the material; inverter speed control helps with mixed materials. The CS-300 circular cold saw is specified for material up to 1200 N/mm² tensile strength and HRC35 hardness.
Can a band saw cut a bundle of tubes in one pass?
Yes, double-column and heavy-duty saws can cut bundles when fitted with raised vise jaws and a top pressure clamp. Tell us the bundle size so we can check it fits the vise opening.
How do sawing machines fit with plasma cutting?
Sawing cuts bar, tube and sections to length; plasma cutting profiles flat plate. Many fabrication shops run both: a band saw for stock preparation and a plasma table for plate parts.
